A video circulating online claims to show a masked individual scaling the U.S. Justice Department building and removing a banner bearing President Donald Trump’s image. The banner, which promoted the slogan “Make America Safe Again,” was reportedly displayed on February 19, 2026.
However, this video has been determined to be fabricated. Reverse image searches and analysis of the video content reveal several inconsistencies that point to its creation using artificial intelligence.
Searches across major search engines and reverse image searches did not yield any credible news reports about the vandalism of a Trump banner at the Justice Department building.
The video appears to have been generated by combining a photograph of the banner, taken on February 20, 2026, with an AI tool that animated the scene and added a figure in a ski mask. Specific visual anomalies, such as illegible text, a person’s arm seemingly passing through the banner, and objects disappearing between frames, are strong indicators of AI manipulation. The movements of the person in the video also appear unnatural, further suggesting its artificial origin.
This incident is similar to other instances where banners featuring President Trump’s image have been the subject of online rumors.
