Combs is currently serving a 50-month sentence at FCI Fort Dix in New Jersey. The current wave of speculation also brings to mind past comments made by Trump in 2025 regarding the possibility of a pardon. At that time, Trump, who was acquainted with Combs prior to his political career, noted that their relationship had evolved. He stated to Newsmax in 2025, “I was very friendly with him. I got along with him great, and seemed like a nice guy. I didn’t know him well. But when I ran for office, he was very hostile.”
White House sources have indicated to several news outlets that President Trump has discussed the potential for granting clemency to Sean Combs. However, it has been emphasized that no definitive decision has been made, and these discussions are reportedly ongoing.
The topic of a potential pardon for Combs has been amplified by recalling Trump’s prior public statements on the matter. In October 2025, Trump mentioned that Combs had sought a pardon, and he intended to “take a look at it” and “speak to the Justice Department,” even referring to the artist at that time as “Puff Daddy.”
