No official statement from Bondi or any credible news source confirmed the existence of these photos or a confession by Bondi. Her official statement after her dismissal on April 2 reiterated her loyalty to Trump.
The origin of this rumor has been traced to The Borowitz Report, a known purveyor of satirical content. Andy Borowitz first published the false claim on April 4. The Borowitz Report’s “About” page explicitly states it features satirical news. Previously, The New Yorker published Borowitz’s column for 25 years before discontinuing it in 2023.
