Loomer stated that an anonymous senior FBI source informed her of this denial, citing suspected communication with Islamic terrorist organizations as the reason Mamdani is considered a national security risk.
Loomer posted on X, asserting, “Senior @FBI source tells me, ‘Senior FBI leadership has reason to believe Mamdani may be having direct communication with Islamic terrorist organizations. He is certainly a national security risk, which is why we declined giving him an FBI-approved security clearance. He won’t be getting one.'” She further linked this allegation to the upcoming 25th anniversary of 9/11, as Mamdani was set to assume the mayoral role in January 2026.
This claim emerges amidst increased political scrutiny of Mamdani, a Democratic Socialist and New York City’s first Muslim mayor. Mamdani’s outspoken advocacy for Palestinian rights and his criticisms of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu have drawn opposition from some conservative figures, including Loomer.
The allegation is unsubstantiated, relying solely on an anonymous source without any corroborating evidence or official verification from the FBI. The FBI has not publicly stated that Mamdani was denied a security clearance or identified him as a national security risk.
