A pedestrian was struck and killed early Monday along Interstate 45 North Freeway near FM 2920 in the Spring area, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to the scene after reports that a person had been hit by a vehicle along the busy stretch of highway north of Houston. When authorities arrived, the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
The identity of the victim had not been immediately released as officials worked to notify family members.
Lanes Closed During Investigation
Following the crash, authorities shut down several lanes of the northbound I-45 North Freeway near FM 2920 while investigators examined the scene.
Traffic in the area was significantly affected as law enforcement worked to determine the circumstances surrounding the fatal collision. Motorists were advised to avoid the area or expect delays during the early morning hours.
Officials later reopened the roadway after the investigation at the scene was completed.
