Viral Video of Highway Stunt Crash is AI-Generated, Not Real
A dramatic video circulating online that appears to show a driver climbing onto the roof of a moving McLaren at high speeds before crashing into a truck is completely fake. The footage is actually the product of artificial intelligence.
The viral clip gained traction on X (formerly Twitter) when it was shared by the account @BricxNews with the caption: “HIGHWAY INSANITY: 🏎️💨 MCLAREN DRIVER OPENS DIHEDRAL DOORS AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS FOR SOCIAL MEDIA.” The 15-second video depicts a perilous stunt ending in disaster as the vehicle collides with a truck while being filmed from a parallel car.
However, a trace of the video’s origin leads back to an Instagram account known for producing AI-generated media. The clip was originally posted by user @drkelsofficial, whose bio clearly states, “I create viral AI videos.”
Closer inspection of the footage reveals classic glitches typical of artificial intelligence generation:
- During the moment of impact, the driver’s arm visibly phases directly through the back of the truck.
- Moments later, a disembodied human hand suddenly appears inside the filming vehicle, completely detached from any person.
