Specifically, a viral video clip featuring two distinct events—one showing a massive mudslide and another showing a house destroyed by rushing floodwaters—is being shared online as real-time footage of the Nepal crisis.

A closer look at both segments of the video reveals they are completely unrelated to Nepal and date back years.
The First Clip (Mudslide)
A reverse image search tracing the origin of the mudslide footage led to a Reddit thread published on February 2, 2024. The post featured an extended version of the clip, identifying the location as Myanmar.
The exact same video was also uploaded to YouTube by user @lwinwaiye3490 on January 28, 2024.
A direct comparison confirms that the viral snippet matches the older 2024 footage.
While the precise day of the event cannot be independently pinned down, its widespread presence online since early 2024 proves it has nothing to do with the August 2026 floods in Nepal.
The Second Clip (House Swept Away)
A similar reverse image search on the second segment directed us to a news article published by The Mirror on June 17, 2022. The report covered the dramatic collapse of a home in Gardiner, Montana, which was swallowed by the Yellowstone River following intense storms and rapid snowmelt near Yellowstone National Park.
Additionally, a CBS News report from June 14, 2022, featured the exact same footage, detailing the severe flooding and destruction in the region.
This confirms that the second video captures an event in Montana from June 2022, completely unrelated to the current disaster in Nepal.

Ultimately, digital investigations confirm that both videos being circulated under the guise of the recent Nepal floods are outdated. The first clip has been circulating since early 2024, while the second documents a house collapse during the 2022 Yellowstone floods in the United States.
