During an address on September 10 at the Republican Midterm Convention in Dallas, Johnson declared that the ongoing 119th Congress—set to conclude this coming January—stands as “the most productive Congress in 80 years.”
“The media won’t tell you this, but this has been one of the most productive Congresses in the history of the institution since 1789. In the House, we passed over 900 pieces of legislation, and that includes the Save America Act four times. It’s been the most productive Congress in 80 years, and we’re not done yet,” Johnson stated.

Data provided by Snopes reveals that the 119th Congress falls short of the output managed by two of its immediate predecessors, making the Speaker’s claim inaccurate.
According to official records on Congress.gov, the House has approved 922 legislative measures to date. By comparison, the 118th Congress passed 995 measures, while the 117th Congress achieved an even higher output of 1,127.
Even if the current session manages to boost its output before adjournment, it remains statistically far behind the true historical peaks in legislative productivity recorded over the past 80 years.
