During October 2026, social media platforms began circulating a screenshot purporting to show a message from U.S. President Donald Trump's Truth Social profile. The image suggested that Trump was expressing gratitude toward billionaire Elon Musk for a method allegedly multiplying Republican voting power ahead of the November 2026 midterms.

The shared image (archived) displayed the following text:

Republicans must WIN the 2026 Midterm Elections, and we must use every appropriate tool—Whether you vote early, absentee, by mail, or in-person, we must "swamp" the Radical Left Dummods with massive turnout! THANKS TO THE GREAT ELON MUSK EVERY REPUBLICAN VOTE COUNTS AS 3 VOTES! SO IMPORTANT - PLEASE GET OUT AND VOTE, AND MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN! President Donald J. Trump

This graphic is a falsified alteration of a genuine post originating from Trump's official account. Specifically, the line mentioning Musk was digitally inserted into the middle of the statement, leading to a classification of fake.

On Oct. 3, 2026, Trump published (archived) a message that excluded the fabricated statement about Musk, which had been inserted right after the phrase about swamping political opponents:

Indicators of tampering within the viral screenshot include the misspelled word "Dummods," which appears to be a botched modification of "Dumocrats."

Verification checks on Trump's Truth—an independent platform that continuously archives and indexes his statements, including removed content—revealed no historical record of Trump making any statement on the platform about votes counting three times thanks to Musk.

Meanwhile, Trump has maintained an active schedule, delivering speeches at rallies across the country to rally a base of support for GOP candidates ahead of the upcoming midterms.

Fact-checkers have previously exposed numerous other fabricated screenshots falsely attributed to the former president over the years.
