Fact Check: Did Trump mock Lindsey Graham’s musical preferences?

The passing of Graham on June 11 came as a shock to many across the United States, especially given his continued involvement in public affairs.

WASHINGTON, DC: Several months following the death of former Senator Lindsey Graham, a fabricated screenshot began making the rounds on social media. The image purports to show a message from President Donald Trump taking a jab at the late senator’s musical tastes. The viral post has drawn mixed reactions online, prompting numerous users to question its authenticity and demand verification.

Claim: Donald Trump mocked Lindsay Graham’s music preference

The graphic has circulated on Facebook and X, pulling in tens of thousands of views (Mrs.Putin/Facebook)

The rumor first appeared as a captured image of what looks like a post shared by Trump on his official Truth Social profile.

The fraudulent message stated: “I’m starting to have a few questions! It was actually Lindsey Graham who first introduced me to ‘YMCA’ by The Village People! Fantastic beat, tremendous energy at the rallies!”

“But then he told me his absolute favorite song of all time was their other hit, ‘In the Navy’! He used to blast it on his phone and say, ‘Mr. President, listen to this! They really care about seamen! I care so much about seamen!'”

“I used to think, ‘Wow, Lindsey just loves our massive naval fleet and seamen!’ But now, looking back at all these wild stories… I’m starting to wonder.”

The image has gained traction across Facebook and X, racking up tens of thousands of views. While some commenters appear to accept it as genuine, others remain highly skeptical.

Fact Check: Donald Trump made no such post

The claim is entirely untrue. No such statement exists anywhere on the president’s official social media channels.

A thorough review of his Truth Social profile, alongside accounts on X that systematically archive his commentary, yielded no matches for the text shown in the screenshot.

Had the president published such remarks, major news outlets would have covered it extensively. However, web searches for the alleged quote return zero legitimate news coverage.

Furthermore, the graphic contains clear indicators that it was created as a joke, including a visible watermark reading “Mrs. Putin Satire.”

It also features obvious typos and alterations, listing the account handle as “@realDotardTurmp” instead of his genuine username, “@realDonaldTrump.”

Graham passed away unexpectedly on June 11, catching many in Washington off guard since the veteran lawmaker had been actively participating in public duties and international diplomacy just days prior.

Paying tribute to the senator, Trump wrote at the time: “Senator Lindsey Graham, one of the greatest people and Senators I have ever known, is dead! He was always working and was a true American Patriot. Lindsey will be greatly missed!!! DETAILS AND ARRANGEMENTS TO FOLLOW. So sad!”
