Fact Check: Did Ivanka Trump say ‘let them ride ponies if they can’t afford gas’?

The rumor gained traction online after Ivanka shared footage of her teenage daughter horseback riding near the ocean.

WASHINGTON, DC: As the administration of President Donald Trump faces mounting pressure over soaring fuel costs, a viral social media rumor emerged alleging that the former president’s daughter, Ivanka Trump, casually suggested that citizens struggling with high pump prices should simply “ride ponies.” While the post drew immediate backlash and criticism from various users, the veracity of the statement has come into question.

The post quickly racked up tens of thousands of views on social media (@TheBabylonBibi/X)

According to widely circulated posts on X, Ivanka Trump supposedly remarked, “If they can’t afford gas, let them ride ponies.”

The post quickly accumulated nearly 100,000 views, sparking harsh criticism directed at Ivanka, with many commenters seemingly accepting the quote at face value.

At the same time, a segment of users expressed doubt, labeling the purported quote as fabricated and triggering a closer look at the source.

The controversy began after Ivanka uploaded a video featuring her teenage daughter, Arabella Kushner, riding a horse along a beach at sunset set to Coldplay’s “Viva La Vida.” Numerous internet users mistakenly believed the rider in the video was Ivanka herself, leading to accusations that she was acting out-of-touch amid ongoing public frustrations over inflation and high gas prices.

Despite disabling the comment section on her post, the wave of backlash continued to grow.

Fact Check: The statement is completely fabricated

While it is true that a video of her daughter horseback riding was shared online, there is zero proof that Ivanka ever made any comments advising people to substitute fuel with ponies.

No legitimate news reports, public records, official statements, or transcripts linked to Jared Kushner’s spouse contain any such remark.

Had a prominent figure like Ivanka actually made such an insensitive comment during an economic crunch, major news organizations would have covered it extensively.

Instead, the quote originated from a well-known satirical profile named ‘The Babylon Bibi,’ which explicitly labels its content as parody in its bio.

In related economic news, Donald Trump recently asserted that gas prices would plummet following a successful conclusion to the ongoing conflict with Iran. With many Americans currently grappling with fuel costs exceeding $4 per gallon, the president expressed confidence that prices would tumble well below the $3 threshold and potentially dip beneath $2.

“Oil prices will drop precipitously, like everything else is dropping (but more!), when we WIN the war with Iran,” Trump stated.

“Three Dollars a gallon, but ultimately, below Two Dollars a gallon. It will all happen quickly, and Iran will never have a Nuclear Weapon. MAGA! President DJT.”
