Social media users shared a purported screenshot of a Truth Social post by President Donald Trump, which supposedly offered an explanation for the senator missing the gathering and quickly sparked widespread speculation and calls for verification.
The Claim: A Viral Truth Social Post Regarding Mitch McConnell
The rumor gained traction through an image designed to look like an official post from the president’s verified Truth Social account.
The bogus message read: “I just spoke with Mitch McConnell on the phone for 20 minutes-a fantastic, high-level call! He called to explain the totally valid, very serious reasons why he couldn’t make it to our beautiful, historic convention today, and believe me, he wanted to be here VERY BADLY!”
“First of all, the hospice security guards locked the main doors right as he was walking out! He was fully dressed, suit on, moving at top speed, but the strict facility staff refused to hit the green button!”
“A total lockdown situation, very unfair! And then, when he tried to make a break for the exit anyway, his heavy-duty IV drip line got snagged on the doorframe and yanked him right back into the hallway!”

The Reality: The Post is Completely Fabricated
A review of the evidence confirms that the circulating screenshot is entirely fake, and Trump never published such a statement.
An investigation into his official Truth Social profile reveals no matching entries. Furthermore, platforms that routinely archive all of his digital communications on X show no record of the message ever existing.
Standard search engine queries also returned zero coverage from reputable news organizations, which undoubtedly would have reported on such an unusual statement from the former president.
Additionally, a closer inspection of the image exposes clear blunders indicating satire or manipulation, including a distinct watermark reading ‘@Mrs Putin Satire’ and a typographical error in the timestamp, which lists the year as ‘22026’ instead of ‘2026.’
