Numerous posts on X alleged that Josh Brolin is lined up to return as King Thanos for parts five and six of the blockbuster franchise.

One widely shared post claimed, “Marvel Studios is reportedly planning to adapt Doctor Doom effortlessly ripping out Thanos’ spine—adapting the brutal 2015 Secret Wars comic panel to establish Doom’s ultimate dominance.”

Another user wrote, “Insider reports & industry scoopers suggest that Marvel Studios will recreate the iconic comic panel where God Emperor Doom rips out Thanos’ Spine.”

Accumulating over half a million views, the posts triggered polarized reactions. While some fans accepted the rumor at face value, others expressed skepticism and demanded verification.

Fact Check: The viral claim stems from satire

In reality, the rumor is entirely false. Neither Marvel Studios nor Brolin has made any official announcements regarding a comeback for the iconic Marvel Cinematic Universe villain.

A comprehensive search yields no legitimate statements, studio press releases, or confirmations from the cast or crew. Given the magnitude of such a casting choice, major entertainment publications would have immediately covered it.

Furthermore, many of the social media accounts amplifying the claim explicitly identify as satire or parody pages, indicating the story was cooked up purely for clicks and engagement.

When Collider recently asked Brolin about the speculation during an interview, the actor simply replied, “I don’t know how to answer that question.”

Marvel jumpstarted the promotional campaign last December by dropping four teaser trailers to build hype for the feature.
