Fact Check: Did Donald Trump claim on social media that he ‘talked to Jesus’?

A social media screenshot alleging that former President Donald Trump posted about a conversation with Jesus has been circulating widely, reigniting discussions about his cognitive health. The purported post, shared on platforms like Facebook and Threads, claimed Trump recounted a personal exchange with Jesus, who supposedly praised his presidency and stated the world owes him a debt of gratitude for his Christian morals.

However, a fact-check of this viral screenshot has revealed it to be fabricated. Investigations of Trump’s official Truth Social account and archives of his posts found no record of such a statement. Furthermore, the visual presentation of the alleged post differed from the authentic Truth Social interface, lacking a date stamp and exhibiting inconsistent font proportions. A broader internet search for the alleged quote also yielded no credible news reports or documented instances of Trump making such a statement outside of the fabricated social media post.

This incident comes amidst a recent resurgence of concerns regarding Trump’s mental acuity. Illinois Governor JB Pritzker, in a June 30 appearance on CNN’s ‘The Source’ with Kaitlan Collins, asserted that Trump is “suffering from dementia” and struggles to comprehend his own statements. Pritzker’s comments were prompted by Trump’s assertion that communism poses a greater threat to the United States in 2026 than major historical events like World War I, World War II, the Pearl Harbor attack, and the September 11th terrorist attacks combined. Pritzker described Trump’s remarks as indicative of someone “continually suffering from dementia.”
