The claims, which suggest Patel described the incident as a “sophisticated attack that was well-funded and planned,” and even mentioned an “Antifa Algae Attack Task Force,” have prompted scrutiny.
However, a thorough review reveals no official statements or press releases from the FBI corroborating these assertions. Furthermore, searches for the alleged task force yielded no factual basis. The viral posts appear to have originated from a parody source, as indicated by a disclaimer present on the accompanying image stating, “Nothing on this page is real.”
President Donald Trump did, however, comment on the situation. On Friday, June 19, he stated that the issues plaguing the Reflecting Pool were due to vandalism and confirmed that law enforcement was investigating. He elaborated on Truth Social, describing “disgraceful Vandalism” and alleging that perpetrators used a knife or blade to create a “250 foot long gash” and poured “corrosive and destructive chemicals” into the pool. Trump later announced that multiple arrests had been made in connection with the incident.
