Claim: Kendrick Lamar explicitly confirmed ‘Not Like Us’ was about Drake
The speculation began with a post from an Instagram page called Daily Noud, which boldly stated, “Kendrick Lamar confirms he was talking about Drake on ‘Not Like Us’.”
A secondary image included in the post featured a fabricated quote meant to look like a statement from Lamar: “A lot of people thought I was talking about someone else so I had to put it to rest.”
The caption provided background on the track itself, reminding followers that “Kendrick Lamar released Not Like Us in May 2024 as part of an escalating public dispute with Drake.”
It further noted that the Mustard-produced track combined a West Coast beat with sharp lyrical critiques aimed at Drake and his associates regarding personal conduct and cultural appropriation. The caption also highlighted the song’s massive commercial success, noting that it shattered streaming records, debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot 100, and was heavily promoted through high-profile events like “The Pop Out” concert and a music video shot across Compton and Los Angeles.
Unsurprisingly, the post gained quick traction, with several social media users taking the bait in the comment section. “I’m really glad he clarified, I was so confused,” one user posted, while another quipped, “Oh now it makes sense, cuz people were saying he said Say Drake, I thought he said Cedric.”
Fact Check: False, the rumor stems from a satirical source
In reality, the claim is entirely fabricated. The source of the rumor is @DailyNoud, a self-described parody account. The profile’s biography explicitly warns readers that it posts “PARODY Hip-Hop News” and labels its content as “fake stories,” while also clarifying it has no connection to legitimate media outlets like @DailyLoud.
Aside from standard photographs of Lamar and Drake, the viral post offered zero proof—no video clips, no interview screenshots, and no verified quotes. A search for any recent interviews where Lamar made such a statement produced zero credible results.
Furthermore, ‘Not Like Us’ was universally recognized as a direct attack on Drake the moment it dropped on May 4, 2024, amid their explosive public fallout.
