Fact Check: Did Trump threaten to sue Jared Kushner for tricking him into starting a war with Iran?

The rumor emerged online following reports indicating that the Pentagon and White House are considering deploying a MOAB against Iran.

WASHINGTON, DC: Amid mounting criticism directed at the Trump administration over Middle Eastern conflicts and soaring fuel prices as midterm elections approach, a baseless rumor recently made the rounds on social media. The viral post claimed that President Donald Trump is threatening legal action against Jared Kushner, alleging that his son-in-law manipulated him into initiating a conflict with Iran. Given the confusion it caused, the claim required immediate verification.

The Rumor: Is Donald Trump suing Jared Kushner?

The viral post quickly accumulated tens of thousands of views (@HalfwayPost/X)

According to the widely shared post on X, Trump supposedly threatened to sue Jared Kushner for allegedly sabotaging his presidency by steering him into a war with Iran on behalf of Israel.

The post amassed tens of thousands of views within a short timeframe. While many users fell for the narrative—expressing outrage at the administration and shock over a potential fallout within the family—others remained doubtful and sought official clarification.

Fact Check: The story stems from a satirical source

The allegation is entirely false. There is zero evidence to suggest the president is suing Ivanka Trump’s husband, and the premise that Kushner covertly engineered a war with Iran is completely fabricated.

No official statements, press releases, or social media updates from Trump or the White House point to any such legal threat against Kushner.

Had such an extraordinary event occurred, major news networks would have covered it extensively, turning it into a dominant nationwide news cycle.

Instead, the narrative originated from a well-known parody profile on X named ‘The Halfway Post,’ which explicitly labels its content as satire in its account biography.

The satirical rumor gained traction against the backdrop of serious geopolitical developments, following leaks that the Pentagon and White House have formulated contingency plans to deploy the Massive Ordnance Air Blast (MOAB)—frequently referred to as the “mother of all bombs”—against strategic Iranian military sites should President Trump authorize renewed strikes.

“The Department of War routinely models a wide spectrum of operational contingencies to execute leadership directives and guarantee mission success across any theater,” a Pentagon official noted to CBS News.

Meanwhile, a White House representative stated, “We decline to address sensitive military planning that may or may not be active. President Trump maintains all options to ensure Iran never acquires a nuclear weapon.”

Weighing over 30,000 pounds and costing approximately $170,000 per unit, the MOAB stands as the largest conventional, non-nuclear weapon in the United States military arsenal.
