The fabricated picture was shared on X (formerly Twitter) on August 24, 2026, by the user account @joshforprogress alongside the caption: “Spiderman punching a Nazi. 🇺🇸🫡”
The controversy stems from a volatile protest and counter-demonstration outside Minneapolis City Hall. According to an official Minneapolis Police Department bulletin released on August 22, 2026, eleven individuals were taken into custody during the unrest, with Jake Lang and William Nicholas Love listed among those arrested.
