A comparison of two images, one presented as a Getty photo of Donald Trump and the other as a White House-edited version with smoothed skin, is misleading. Neither of the images circulating in the comparison is genuinely from Getty Images or the White House. The original photograph was published by Reuters and does not resemble either of the altered versions.
The claim gained traction on X, formerly Twitter, on July 25, 2026. The post featured a side-by-side image of Trump, contrasting a photo with an unnaturally smooth complexion against one with more visible wrinkles and texture. The accompanying caption stated, “Getty photo vs. what the White House releases.”
Investigation reveals that the image labeled as the “Getty photo” is, in fact, a doctored version of a real photograph of Trump in Georgia, taken on July 22, 2026, and published by Reuters. The other image, purported to be from the White House, is also an alteration of the same Reuters image. Reverse image searches on platforms like Google Images, TinEye, and Yandex did not yield any results linking the smoothed-skin image to official White House releases.
Furthermore, a review of the White House’s official gallery of photographs from Trump’s Georgia event shows no matching images. Consequently, both images in the viral comparison have been manipulated, and their attribution to Getty Images and the White House is inaccurate.
