According to a widely shared post on X, Evans confirmed that his upcoming appearance in ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’—slated for release next year—would mark his definitive retirement from the role of Captain America, drawing a 16-year journey to a close.

The post rapidly accumulated upwards of 200,000 views, dividing the fanbase. While numerous users expressed sadness over the supposed goodbye, others urged caution, demanding proof of the actor’s alleged statement.

Fact Check: Tracing the Rumor to a Parody Account

Ultimately, no official evidence supports this viral claim, making the rumor entirely false.

Evans has made no statements indicating that he is hanging up his shield for good. Furthermore, neither Marvel Studios nor any major entertainment trade publications have released press statements or reports corroborating the claim.

An announcement of this magnitude regarding a cornerstone of the ‘Avengers‘ franchise would undoubtedly be covered immediately by mainstream entertainment news outlets.

Instead, the misinformation can be traced back to an X profile named ‘Chaos Crave’—a known parody account recognized for pushing exaggerated headlines purely to drive online engagement.

The actor recently discussed his much-awaited return to the superhero ensemble, describing the filming process as a deeply nostalgic experience.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly at SDCC, Evans drew parallels to his early days in the MCU.

“It was almost like going back to 2011 on the first Avengers, because at the beginning of that, you’re kind of the new kid on the block and you’re excited to even be there,” Evans shared.

He added, “I would find myself during that movie watching. You’re in the scene, but then you’re just like, ‘Robert Downey Jr is playing Tony Stark! I have a line.’ And on this one, I felt that a little bit again, just watching you do this thing that I couldn’t wait to see.”
