What is the Claim?
A circulating video depicting a massive torrent of water and debris crashing down a mountainous region and destroying homes is being widely shared online as footage from the recent flash floods in Nepal.

Fact Check
Conducting a reverse image search on keyframes from the viral clip directed us to an August 5, 2025, Instagram post by the Times of India. The post featured footage from the exact same disaster, reporting that at least four individuals lost their lives when severe flash floods tore through Dharali village in Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand, following a cloudburst in the Kheer Ganga river’s upper catchment area.
A report published by Dainik Bhaskar on the exact same date, August 5, 2025, also featured visuals of the incident, confirming that a devastating cloudburst in Uttarkashi unleashed heavy floodwaters and debris via the Kheer Ganga river, ultimately overwhelming Dharali village.
Additionally, India Today covered the disaster on the same day, reporting that a cloudburst near Uttarkashi sent a destructive wall of water, silt, and debris tearing through Dharali, flattening numerous houses and buildings. That report confirmed at least four fatalities and noted that over 50 people were missing.

Ultimately, the evidence proves that this is archival footage from an August 2025 cloudburst in Uttarakhand, and it is being falsely misrepresented as the recent flash floods in Nepal.
